SPRING INTENSIVE ’26
We are thrilled to announce our very first WHIM Spring Intensive
W’Him x Maurya Kerr, March 12 – March 14, 2026
W’Him Workshop, March 15 – March 17, 2026
The WHIM Spring Intensive is designed for pre-professional and professional dancers (18+). Dancers have the option to choose between our two 3-Day Workshops OR attend both Workshops!
W’Him x Maurya Kerr | March 12 – 14
Spend 3 enriching days of dance led in collaboration with Maurya Kerr and Whim W’Him dancers. Dancers will have daily ballet and improvisation classes, ‘diving into being,’ led by Maurya Kerr. To supplement this work, W’Him company repertoire and contemporary classes will be offered by W’Him dancers.
Dancers are invited to dive into creativity, curiosity, failure, rigor, risk, and joy. We will cultivate abandon, care, commitment, generosity, personal investment, and love.
Kerr’s class ‘diving into being,’ offers an improvisatory landscape of generative play and imaginative rigor. Together we will shape-shift and risk-take; challenge self-conceived limits of generosity; fortify creative, investigative, and physical stamina; and plummet into the mess(es).
In addition to this work in the studio, Maurya will lead dancers through a writing workshop. Dancers will spend time in the land of word, language, and poetry as a way to offer different doorways in or outlets for creative expression. Through this practice, participants may gain a greater ability to access the poetic potentiality of our moving bodies.
W’Him Workshop: Partnering | March 15 – 17
Spend 3 days immersed in technique, Whim repertory, and partnering.
Dancers will learn Whim’s creative approaches to partnering from Whim W’Him dancers and Artistic Director Olivier Wevers. Classes will include ballet, contemporary, repertory, and partnering.
At Whim we believe in gender neutral partnering, emphasizing the reciprocal sharing of weight and energy. We will cultivate energetic sensitivity and trust, while practicing personal/artistic choice making. Dancers will then apply these skills when learning Whim partnering repertoire .
Participating artists will gain tools to serve and develop their creative practice and development as individual artists. In addition to work in the studio, dancers will have dedicated time with Artistic Director Olivier Wevers and Whim W’Him dancers for open and honest conversation about navigating professional life and personal/artistic growth.
