CHOREOGRAPHIC SHINDIG III
Whim W’Him, returns to the Erickson Theater Off Broadway for the third annual Choreographic Shindig. This innovative program supports emerging choreographic talent while simultaneously empowering the Whim W’Him dancers by placing them at the helm of the curatorial process. The third crop of dancer-selected choreographers includes three artists hailing from New York, Nashville and Portugal: Adam Barruch, Artistic Director of Anatomiae Occultii; Banning Bouldin, Founder and Artistic Director of New Dialect; and Bruno Roque a former soloist with Les Ballets de Monte Carlo and Royal Ballet of Flanders.
All three choreographers are new to Whim W’Him and were selected via a competitive application process. In March 2016, Whim W’Him posted an international call for choreographers to apply to the WWCS. The company received over 100 applications from all over the world and from choreographers ranging in experience and diversity. This year the dancers selected Barruch, Bouldin and Roque to join them in the studio for seven-weeks residencies that culminates in 7 performances of their new creations at the Erickson Theatre Off Broadway on September 8 – 16, 2017.
