WHIM W’HIM, SEATTLE CONTEMPORARY DANCE ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
It is with great excitement that we announce Keri Kellerman will be joining Whim W’Him on October 14, 2019 as our new Executive Director. After an extensive national search, Keri jumped out as the natural choice to lead our progressive, award winning contemporary dance company into its second decade, bringing over 20 years of proven success in arts non-profit leadership, strong financial and organizational management, effective development growth, boundless collaboration and community involvement, with a shared deep passion for the arts, artists, equity and social justice.
Most recently, they (Keri’s preferred pronoun) served as Managing Director for The Marin Theatre Company in Mill Valley, California, and prior to that served as Managing Director for The Playwrights’ Center (Minneapolis, MN), Managing Director for Intiman Theatre (Seattle, WA), and Director of Development for UW World Series (Seattle, WA). Keri also has experience with the Northwest Parkinson’s Foundation, On the Boards, Pacific Northwest Ballet, and the Seattle Repertory Theatre. They have served as a board member for multiple arts organizations in various regions, including the Seattle-based dance company Zoe | Juniper.
Olivier Wevers, Artistic Director: “I am thrilled to welcome Keri back to Seattle as our new Executive Director to lead Whim W’Him through our next decade. Keri’s advocacy and empathy, combined with their energy and experience, are perfectly aligned to further advance the values and mission of the company. I look forward to developing my partnership with Keri to benefit our community and foster the future of contemporary dance in Seattle and beyond.”
Keri Kellerman: “I’m beyond excited to join Olivier, the dancers and the Whim W’Him family to lift up contemporary dance through a racial equity lens and work toward art as a force for narrative change and justice. I stand on the shoulders of all the queer, trans and nonbinary people who came before me and fought so bravely for my chance to be here to carry the movement forward with joy and purpose.”
